Farm toys

How do babies develop their love for toys?

Toys are wonderful, no matter how old you are. Early in life they are essential for development and learning about the world. As children grow older, they can teach the importance of communication, teamwork, and how complex systems work. Farm toys are a great choice for babies at different ages.

The first two months

In month one and two, babies will be curious about the world and start to develop their senses. Most of their entertainment will come from observing and touching you, looking at what you show them and listening to your voice. While they likely won’t play with a toy themselves, you can choose things to show them like rattles and bright, colourful toys. Mobiles can be great too when you lay them down.

Months two to four

From this point babies start to build the ability to hold things themselves. So, it’s a good idea to give them their first real toys and help them along. Rattles and items with soft textures are fantastic. They become the main fascination and source of entertainment.

Months four to six

Next is a really fun time where you’ll likely see your baby moving around even more, including rolling over and pushing up. Early hand eye coordination skills can develop too, such as the ability to pass toys from hand to hand. It is the ideal moment to think about stuffed animals (they’ll likely become favourites) and things that are easy to hold. However, remember this is a key time when babies will be teething and everything will likely end up in their mouth. Ensure whatever you choose, including farm toys, is safe and there is no choking hazard.

Months six to twelve

This is one of the most important periods in a baby’s development. They will achieve all kinds of amazing milestones here, including sitting, crawling, and standing. Most importantly, babies become true explorers. You will need to keep your eye on them or they’ll be off in a flash.

The things babies learn at this point are fantastic too. Significantly, they’ll develop their ability to pick items up and grip them. This is a sign you can start giving them a wider selection of toys. In turn, you’ll see them enjoying more independent play and really falling in love with their things. Plus, you can provide toys to help them learn to stand, balance, and move around. All the toys here are things your baby will probably come to love for the next year or so.

In the nine to twelve months period, you can start to encourage babies to do basic puzzle solving with toys. This makes playtime even more engaging. Activities like sorting shapes and stacking blocks are fun and educational.

Towards the end of this time babies may start to attempt to walk. Early developers can take their first steps at nine months, but the average age is twelve to fifteen months. Push and pull toys are excellent here to help develop walking skills.

Wonderful farm toys

Seeing babies grow and develop is one of life’s great joys. As you can see though, you need to give them the right toys at the most appropriate times. Make sure you think about their needs and safety. Also keep in mind they will love some of these items for years; take good care of them to ensure they will last.
