There was fantastic news for feed production in the UK recently. I’Anson Bros celebrated the completion of construction of a brand new high tech facility at a site outside Thirsk in North Yorkshire. It is milestone for the company, and also a great way to begin their 125th anniversary celebrations.

The facility

Waterloo House has taken an impressive two years to build. It is a £20m mill that will focus on producing bulk feed. This includes feeds for beef cattle, dairy cattle, sheep, and horses. Crucially, it will ensure the business can maintain the quality, as well as the consistency, of their products.

A huge amount of work has gone into creating the facility. The design is from Ottevanger, one of the leading milling specialists in the world. So, it is built for success.

Impressively, the animal feed mill is a massive 35 metres tall. The structure has an amazing 1,000 tonnes of steel. There are also 20m deep pilings to support everything. A huge 15,000 tonnes of concrete and double that in stone were needed.

As we said, this is a state of the art facility. As a result, it features a mammoth 60 miles of cabling. Inside, there are over 10,000 electrical items.
